Biography

Italian painter, born in 1979, graduated from the Art High School in and, in 2003, he graduated in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, attending classes by Turchiaro Antonio, Vittorio Di Gioia, Giampaolo Berto and Francesco delli Santi, who in turn were students of Sante Monachesi and Giorgio de Chirico.​

​

He discovered the watercolor technique as a child, then continued to experiment with other techniques during his artistic studies (pastels, chalks, oil, photography, computer), focusing his interest on details, observing the great masters such as Dürer, Caravaggio , De Chirico and Chuck Close.

He began working in the restoration sites of Rome, and in other Italian cities including Turin and Reggio Calabria, among historic buildings, monuments and artwork masterpieces, where he has refined precision and attention to detail.

 

​He rejoined to paint in watercolor in 2015, with the first two solo exhibitions in Latina (and Factory10 mad.on.paper-LaFeltrinelli); then the turning point on the international scene came with the first participation in FabrianoinAcquarello in 2016.

​In the same year he was awarded the 'TOP 20 Award' at the first IWS Biennial in Hong Kong, achieved an honorable mention at the first International Festival in Budapest (Hungary) and participated in the traveling group exhibition in Rome, Pakistan and Portugal.

 

​In 2017 he was chosen as one of the 5 Italian Leaders of FabrianoinAcquarello (in office until today); wins first prize in the watercolor category at Jackson's OPP 2017 in London; he was invited in international exhibitions of "26th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence Day" in Bratislava (Slovakia) and "Harmony through watercolor 2017" in New Delhi (India).

From 2017 he was appointed Brand Ambassador for DANIEL SMITH  (USA); in 2023 it has been released his customised set of watercolor sticks "Core Mixing Palette" with 5 core selected colors: Hansa Yellow Medium, Quinacridone Coral, Lamp Black, Cobalt Blue and Phthalo Green Yellow Shade .​

 

​In 2018 he is among the selected for the Jackson's OPP2018 award, awarded with the "Appreciation Award" at the ABU RAWASH Prize (Egypt), and is a finalist artist at the Esdé Gallery in Cagliari; he was invited to the "International Watercolor Mail Art" in Budapest (Hungary), where he participates in a collective watercolor with other international artists; moreover he participates in the biennials "Transcendence for legacy" in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and "Watercolor International IV" in Thessaloniki (Greece).​

 

In 2019 he participated as an invited artist at the International Watercolor Festival of Sperlonga and at the first international Art Festival "World of High Watercolor" in Moscow (Russia), he was awarded 'Among Best 50' at the GAWA contest (India) and awarded, again, with the “Appreciation Award” at the ABU RAWASH Prize (Egypt).​In 2020 he was awarded an honorable mention to Esdé Gallery in Cagliari, invited to Urbino inWatercolor, in Montemor-o-Novo (Portugal) and selected to the Centenary Exhibition of the founding of the National Watercolor Society (San Pedro).

During the lockdown Covid-19 period he participated in several streaming events on Youtube, such as the special edition of Fabriano In Acquarello online and "Go with the ... Flow", a 24-hour marathon with 100 watercolors from all over the world.​

​

In 2021 he was awarded the Signature Membership of National Watercolor Society (San Pedro), the Membership of NorthWest Watercolor Society (Seattle), the Commended Award at Watercolor International V Biennial in Thessaloniki (Greece).

He participated at the 2nd International Festival "World of High Watercolor" in Moscow (Russia), at the Art Thessaloniki International Fair, at Indonesia International Watercolor Online Exhibition; he was the international award jury member of "Still Life / Floral" at Malaysia International Online Juried Art Competition Spring 2021.

​In 2022 he has been selected at the American Watercolor Society 155th Annual International Watercolor Exhibition, at the National Watercolor Society Members Exhibition, at NWWS WATERWORKS Unlimited Membership Exhibition of the NorthWest Watercolor Society, at the North East Watercolor Society 46th Annual International Exhibition and at 7th edition of International Biennial Prize "Fabriano Watercolor 2022".​

He has participated as invited artist at IV Encontro Internacional Aguarelas de Montemor-o-Novo (Portugal) and at the first edition of Sermoneta Rioni ad Acquerello.

​

In 2023 he has been selected at the National Watercolor Society Membership Exhibition, at the North West Watercolor Society Membership Exhibition receiving the Second Place Award, at Watercolor International 2nd Online Exhibition receiving the Commended Award; he is also invited at the Watercolor International VI Biennial in Thessaloniki (Greece) achieving the "Excellence Award". 

Moreover he has started a collaboration with BORCIANI E BONAZZI for a kit of his own signature brushes of precise, professional and different synthetic brushes, able to cover most of the pictorial gestures performed in hyperrealism.

In December he has setup his last solo exhibition at Spazio COMEL Arte Contemporanea in Latina.

In 2024 he has been selected at the Waterworks Online Membership Exhibition (NWWS), at the International SWA Show (Society of Watercolor Artists, Fort Worth) receiving the Juror's Award; he has been selected at Philadelphia Watercolor Society 124th International Exhibition of works on Paper, awarded with "Sandra Swain Memorial Award for Representational Landscape in Watercolor"; he has been invited at the VII Bienal Internacional de Nuevas Técnicas, Conceptos y Desarrollos en Acuarela y Acuarelibros de Caudete (Spain); he has been one of the curators of the “LA CARTA DIPINTA”  2024 Exhibition of the Coordination of Italian Associations of Watercolor on Paper. Over 100 works from all over Italy exhibited at the Oratorio S. Maria del Gonfalone. Curated by InArte - Festando la Carta, in collaboration with AIA Milan, ARA Rome, AVA Vicenza, Accademia dell’Acquarello Padova. He is one of the Country Leaders of FabrianoinAcquarello participating at the special edition of FabrianoinAcquarello TEXAS at Fort Worth Community Arts Center in Fort Worth (USA) , performing a demo of a still life on stage.

His work focuses on still life, portraying especially metal objects and glass, and the contemporary urban landscapes, which he personally shoot the photographs, embracing the hyperrealist style, influenced by the masters of Pop Art and Photorealism as Andy Warhol, Chuck Close and Ralph Goings.​
